Is ITR needed if i submit payslips?Does CIC usually asks for ITR?

I have been working for my father's friend since past few years. He has been paying me in cash. My salary does not reflect in my bank statement. I do have payslips though. Also, my mother runs a company in my name. So.my ITR is for self-employed. I was hoping to not submit it. Is it mandatory to give ITR? Does CIC usually ask for it?

Only reference letter(must meet ircc requirements) is mandatory. Payslips are highly valued by ircc officers as supporting document but not mandatory. Nothing else is required. Check the requirements here-
