Hi there,

I'm interested in moving to Canada under the IEC Working Holiday Visa for 2022.

I work in the IT industry, specifically NOC 2282, and wondered if this type of visa (also an open work permit) is a good way of starting off in Canada but with this specific job?

Ideally, I'd like to stick to this industry and not have to work in the hospitality or tourism sector as it's not my forte, although I understand most WHV offer these types of temporary jobs.

I have thought about the FSW through the Express Entry which of course is more complicated and on track to PR which is something I would consider.

However, I did think IEC was the easiest way of getting into Canada as I understand most employers don't want to employ foreigners without the right to work yet we need the right to work with a valid job offer. My thoughts were to then apply for PR after the WHV which is valid up to 2 years.

You can certainly use an IEC work permit to work in the IT industry. You can pick whatever industry / NOC you want since it's an open work permit.
