Is it possible to extend the working visa on and on until I get the PR status?

Dear All,

Understand, that it will take around 8 months for province's approval and another 10 months at Federal level for PR status.

While on the other hand, I am going to take a one year trade certificate that will enable me an additional one year open work visa when I have finished that course.

So obviously the validity visa's time is not enough for me until the PR status is being granted.

My question:
1. Is it possible to extend the working visa on and on until I get the PR status? Is there any limitation in working visa extension?

2. It is stated:
"Your spouse is currently employed in Saskatchewan in a permanent, full-time position; or,
You have enough money to sustain for a short time without work ($10,000 for you and $2,000 for each accompanying family member)."

So if both of us are employed, do we still need to have the required said amount?

3. Does a one year certificate trade program would be qualified for this SNP? Or does it need to be a journeyman (red seal) qualification?

Hey Traver,

Every time you extend your Work permit you need to get LMO first, that's all it stated on CIC website.

Other thing is that, if your PR application is based on your work permit (In Canada while on PNP / Permanent Job offer / AEO ) your work permit should be valid when you applied for PR application and once you get your PR status your work permit should be valid in this case.

Thanks Nadeem, it means theoretically it can be unlimited for the WP extension as long as the LMO get renewed until our application get approved for PR right.

No - that's not entirely correct. The limit is four years for some occupations. See:

Thx Scylla, it's very clear then that we have to apply the PNP or Canadian Experience Class as soon as possible to avoid that "time trap."

If you qualify and get PNP you will not need a new LMO to extend the TWP plus the PR process is more like 12 months than 10.
