Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hi guys, I have a bit of a dilemma.

Nowhere did I read that they would only offer me an open work permit for the duration of my passport. My passport expires in November and after paying hundreds of dollars and 6 months of waiting I finally receive it today. But it expires in 3 months!

My question is, is it possible to extend this? I am absolutely crushed. I will not get hired if i can only work for 3 months, I don't expect my PR to come in until next year Feb/March at the earliest.

Yes - you can certainly apply to extend. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/extend-stay.asp

Work permits are never issued for longer than the duration of your passport.

I know that its possible to extend work permits generally, but my main question is (sorry this is my fault, forgot to put it in the description) if its possible to extend the one that I got through the common-law sponsorship program.

Thank you for your reply.

Yes - it's absolutely possible to extend. Typically CIC will grant an OWP with a one year duration for inland spousal sponsorship applications. Processing can sometimes take longer than the validity of the OWP - in which case an extension is absolutely allowed and pretty much guaranteed to be approved (provided you complete the right forms and pay the right fees). Good luck with the process.
