Hello Guru's,

I'm working in Canada since last 2.5 years. I filed my PR application an year ago under arranged employment category. So far I haven't heard anything back from CIC except the initial assessment which was positive.

Now that CIC has revised the requirement for Canadian Experienced class from 2 yrs to 1 year and from what I hear from people that CEC is the fastest category so far (is it true?).

I'm tempted to change the application category to CEC. What are my options?

* Is there a way to change the category on the existing application?
* If not, can I apply in parallel for CEC category without withdrawing earlier application?

Many thanks!

- No, you can't change the category on an existing application.
- Yes, you can apply for CEC in parallel.

Following FAQ from CIC website confirms:

cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=614&t=4

"No. If you wish to change immigration category, you must submit a new application and fees.

The fees you paid for the original application will be refunded ONLY if we have not started processing your application and you request to withdraw the application."
