Is It Necessary to obtain Police Certificate if I have live more than 6 months outside ?

Hi,

I am originally from India. Came as Student in 2015 and got Canadian PR in 2019. I went to India in Dec 2020 for wedding and got stuck there due to covid. So I return back in Sep 2021 to Canada. I have now completed eligibility for Applying Citizenship. However, in Online Application they are asking me to provide Police Certificate for any country in which I have spent more than 153 days in any calendar year in last 4 years or provide an explanation if I cannot give Police certificate.

Is it fine If I just give explanation or would need to give certificate ? Has anyone just given explanation before and submitted the application ?

Police clearance is mandatory. There is no 'explaining' this absence. Also, these days will not count towards 1095.
