But post graduate diplomas need a BA in the equivalent field right? I have BA in a different field other than the one I'm going to apply.

The progression of your studies won't make sense if you take a diploma. This is a frequent reason why study permits are refused.

If you really want to take a diploma, then you will need to write an extremely strong to explain why you are switching fields and also taking a lower level of study. This doesn't make sense.
