Hi All,

I have applied for a PR under CEC class and my current work permit is going to expire on feb 2014 , so i have applied for bridge permit and i got my bridge open work permit.
I have received an email from CIO saying that my PR application is rejected due to IELTS score is not sufficient.
1) Is my Bridge permit is valid now ?
2) Can I continue in canada as a worker ?
3) Can i apply again with new IELTS score ?

Any suggestions...

Thanks
Armaa

BOWP is only valid till your PR application is in process. If decision has been made than it is no longer valid. By the way, what was your IELTS score and your NOC ?

I disagree .

Can you quote reference from cic website ?

Second that. AFAIK, the BOWP is good thru the day printed on the work permit. Doesn't matter if the PR application
gets rejected or not.

Ok, will do that. But logically BOWP is based on your PR application and if it is not there, I dont think your BOWP will be valid.

On the other hand it's an official work permit with a validity date printed on it, and therefore valid to the date printed.

As far as I know: Unless it is explicitly revoked by cic, bowp is still valid.

I've never heard of cic doing this.

You and Toby may be right but I did read this somewhere. I will put the link if I will find it out.

skm12345 could you please post the link you are talking about?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I may have to search. But I believe, Toby have more knowledge so he may be correct but I would suggest you to call CIC and confirm.

Hi skm12345,

you are totally wrong, the BOWP is valid until the expiry date shown on it no matter how the outcome of the permanent resident application is.
please do not make your answers based on guesses, refer to operational manuals and CIC website for primary informations.

I was aware of that, but you do happen to have links? I couldn't find anything, but remember reading it somewhere.

Hi Canadavisa13,

I also hope that I should be wrong but that is not the case. BOWP is a conditional WP which is based on outcome of your PR application. If application is rejected, I dont think it will be valid. As per the Operations bulletin this is case type 27- Under Examination, which means they will keep checking outcome of your PR application. Check this.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2012/ob485.asp

Also check below and read section "what does it do"
http://immigrationcanada.pro/immigrate/bridging-open-work-permits/

I would suggest to check with CIC if someone on BOWP and his/her PR has been rejected for avoiding trouble at later stage.

485 Is out of date - does 485a have that clause?
