Is Birth certificate mandatory for CEC?

Planning to submit my EE profile on August 21, 2018 under CEC category.
Can you please let me know, if it is mandatory to submit a certificate of birth?

Iam from India and also have a spouse and a kid.

It is mandatory for the child only (to prove you are his/her parents).
