Is a new TRV necessary at this point?

Hello All,

I am sponsoring my wife (in-land), who is from the United States. In her PR status tracker everything in completed: Biometrics. Medical, Eligibility and Background Verification.

Today I got a letter from IRCC saying I am approved as a sponsor.

Her TRV is set to expire on 18 September, do you think we need to apply for a new one at this point?

Her TRV or her visitor record? I would recommend making sure she keeps her status in Canada legal even if you think she is closed to the end of the process. You never know what might still happen. I assume she never applied for an OWP?

But just to add - wait until the first or second week of Sept to extend her status. Don't do it now.

We haven't been able to apply for OWP, it says we have to apply online and we could never figure out where to apply online. The portal (her GC Key) only had options for coming to Canada under express entry, applying for citizenship and changing to a study permit.

I would recommend keeping her status in Canada legal and not falling out of status. But again, don't apply to extend until just before expiry of the visitor record.
