Hi everyone — this is my first post here, so sorry if I miss any forum conventions.

I’m looking for advice on whether it makes more sense to withdraw and reapply or wait for IRCC to correct a mistake in my work permit application.

Situation:

  • I submitted an online application through the IRCC portal.
  • I received the Biometrics Instruction Letter (BIL) shortly after submission, and I’m trying to book biometrics at the VAC.
  • I then realized, by reading my BIL, that my given name (first name) and family name (last name) were entered in reverse order in the application/BIL due to the fact that I swapped these fields in my IM 1295...
  • I already submitted a webform to IRCC explaining the issue and I also sent a corrected IMM1295 + passport biodata page + a letter of explanation via webform.
Question:
Given that IRCC webform replies can take time, would you:

  1. wait for IRCC to correct the name swap (since I already sent corrected documents), or
  2. withdraw and reapply immediately (I don’t mind paying again) to avoid losing time?
If anyone has been in a similar situation (name swap / corrected documents via webform), I’d really appreciate hearing what you did and how it turned out.

Thanks in advance.

No need to withdraw, you can even go ahead and do your biometrics, your UCI won't change anyway. just mention the issue when you do that.

Submit the webform to correct it and move on.
