So my parents are back home, they applied for a refugee claim that was denied last august in 2012, they have been out of the country for 9 months, they left before the 30days and went to immigration the day they deported at the airport and they are eligible to return to Canada because it has passed 6 months and they left before there deportation as the immigration form they received stated. And no ARC (authorization to return to Canada) is needed.

So they are in a process of doing a work permit and its going to take a few more months until its decision is made, so in the meantime me and my husband wanted to have them visit us, so I heard about this invitation letter that we can write for them, but my question is once I write this letter and send it to my parents what do they do with the letter? Do they keep it to show at the airport the day they enter, because I read for them to give it to Canada Embassy or the consulate and i just dont understand how long this type of thing could take. It needs some type of approval too?

Let me know your experience or opinion.

Thank you. :)

Its basically a letter you write to invite them here, which they will give to embassy while applying for visitor visa. See my signature for help and sample
But you do realize that its very tough to get since they applied for refugee status earlier and they need to mention this in the application

Agreed with user828. They have already shown with the refugee claim that they want to permanently stay in Canada, so the likelihood of being granted a temporary work permit is very low.

..how did they enter the 1st time?
