A call from CIC seldom happens specially for Visit Visa Application. As long as you provided the necessary requirements. It also depends on the visa office you're applying from.

I applied for my mom (2016) and my aunt (2013) and I did not receive any phone call. (Canadian Embassy Manila)

They have done that in the past. While this is not common it can certainly happen.

If they are unable to get hold of a person then that goes to the file. The letter of invitation contact info should be 100% reliable and the invitator should be available for clarification whenever needed.

Thank you guys

I recently applied for a TRV and attached an invitation letter, the person inviting me told me that she missed a call and had a message left in her voicemail it sounded like someone from immigration.
