Intra company transfer - advice please?

Hi wonder if you can help?
I have been offered a job with a company in Canada that do smart repairs on cars trucks etc, it's a highly skilled job that would take a new employee 6 months to a year just to grasp the basics.
The company are prepared to help me in anyway they can so would I be able to do an intra company transfer? I have worked for the same company in the UK for the last 6 years and have very specialised skills that would benefit the company hugely.

Would it be something worth pursuing? Help and advice greatly received

It depends upon you, If you wanted to Move to North American Continent then this is your chance. It is totally dependent upon your preferences.

It all depends on your preference.
Do some market research about growth opportunities, expenses, life style choices in your country and in Canada.
Take advise from your friends and relatives in Canada(if you have any), check if your profession is regulated and if it is what organization you'll have to join, what exams you'll have to give, how is your educational and experience credited in Canada.

Thanks for the advice! Just to let you know I have been on holiday three times before to Newmarket near Toronto, my fiancé and I have relatives there already who have offered some advice. We already have somewhere to stay and my qualifications match what the parent company in Canada are looking for, I have the offer of employment waiting for me. Financially we will be better off and we are fully committed to the move. As I say all I need is info on where I can get clear practical advice on how to apply and whether my background and skills qualify me for an intra company transfer?

A +1for Donutbox on this suggestion. While I haven't had a chance to look at it, it reminded me of an interview on the news this past hour. They were interviewing the Mayor of Surrey (suburb of Vancouver) and she was talking about an imminent trip to India to investigate cooperative business opportunities between Canada (especially Surrey where 27% of their population have come from India) and India. She mentioned a Surrey company who produce Chinese food takeout boxes and said there was an Indian hotel chain interested in having them in all their hotels. So it certainly sounds as if these intra-country transfers (in both directions!) may become more common in the years ahead.

Just read this great response from YUKON on the thread "WHAT TIME".....

Job Offer needs to be approved by either Service Canada (non-regulated occupations) or HRSDC (for regulated occupations). Do you have this approval (called as AEO-Arranged Employment Opinion) along with your Job Offer?
If not then you may not get the additional 15 points.

As regards processing times, AEO does not fetch any priority in processing, it just gives you 2 benefits:

1. 15 points
2. No need for proof of funds

In fact applicants with AEO's face longer processing, due to additional checks done on the employer.
