Does anyone know at what stage we find out whether my husband will be called for an interview? I'm sponsoring him outland.

I think he will be called for an interview because he was charged with a small offence but was found innocent. They will probably want to ask him questions about this.
So once my sponsorship application is approved, his file will be sent to Rome. At this point, do they tell you right away whether there will be an interview?
I'm just asking because he would like to wait for his PR while we are in Canada but off course we can't do that unless we know he won't be called for an interview for sure. Otherwise he will have to go back to Italy just for an interview.

thanks everyone

You won't know if there is an interview until later in the process. Once your file arrives in Rome, it typically will sit there for a while until a vo gets to opening it up and assessing it. Once it is open, they may decide to call an interview right away or they might want to assess the relationship first, to make sure ey don't have other questions they want to ask. Or they may decide they don't want an interview at all. It could be a while for you to find out. Currently sponsor approval is close to 3 months, so you will have a while to wait yet.

Ask your MP to look into the file. Mine was able to tell me that the notes said "interview likely" about 2 weeks before we received the letter.

I live outside of Canada so I don't think I can do that. Unless I contact MP where I used to live in Vancouver.

If u have just sent your application a few weeks ago and are within the postrd time for sponsor approval there is no point in contacting your MP at this time. Wait until your application has been in Rome for a couple months.
