Thanks for the clarification. I know that they completed the RCMP checks as I saw that on the CAIPS notes previously ordered. Also I know that On February 26, 2009 they started Security checks through the National Security Dep., as this is what we were told in the Embassy. Also it is shown on the Caips notes. I know this is the last stage hopefully :)

Your right , Security checks are the last stage , your hubby has been waiting as long as me by the sound of it ! I applied in Dec 08 they started processing in jan 09 , so will be 2 years this Jan since they began the process .

Security checks are neccesary though , but take for ever lol , hope to god your hubbys dont take long , as this is the final lap and its soooo frustrating, Im so glad I have a supportive husband otherwise I would crack up lol...

Hang in there both of you its almost over :)

i contacted SIRC about CSIS background checks... they are actually going to do an investigation possibly and asked me to write another letter to SIRC to clarify why i want an investigation done (mine is bc they think i am a male, and also they didnt start my check until i faxed them a request for the status, also there is no reason for them to take so long according to the SIRC annual report)

if its 21 months i would maybe contact sirc doesnt hurt to try.

I also contacted SIRC last month , and they advised me that CSIS can take up to 11 month so really until that time is up there wasnt much they could do , but I could still try , so I am going to wait until my 11 month time is up.

Im glad you mentioned this for Krofnica as i was going to suggest it too as they have been waiting a long time :)

I read your post a while ago saugaBoss about the wrong info CSIS had about you ,,I think thats good grounds to complain :) and that they didnt start your file until you faxed them...wow !! unreal or what !

When I faxed them 4 months ago they replied we will give your file every priority ..I thought yes Im sure you will too lol and bet you anything its at the bottom of their file !

yea it is pretty ridiculous!!! idk y they r doing it to me. i dont see any other buffalo applicant stuck in a background check!!! r u applying inland? SIRC said the same to me about the 11 months but i told him they recently changed it before it was broken down in percentages. also i told them csis is the only thing holding up my application. im going to fax them a status update every month

Yes I am applying Inland , I was looking for the breakdown last night on SIRC website but couldnt find it , so will take your word, the guy said the same to me too about complaint in writing , I received my first letter from SIRC so now have 30 days to make representations...which I think I will now thanks to your advise. I should also write to CSIS again and do the same as you, faxing a status update every month !

How long have you been waiting for security checks? Ive been waiting 7 month now, had a CSIS interview in may this year .

its worth trying even if they dont think there is logic behind it...

http://www.sirc-csars.gc.ca/pdfs/ar_2009-2010-eng.pdf here is the site towards the bottom.

i havent been waiting that long only since October 27 according to CSIS... but most Buffalo applicants r done quickly and none r held up bc of background checks beside me (well on this forum) also i never lived anywhere but the USA so its odd. i actually requested CSIS to interview if it helps them lol.

Good luck :D

Thats the info I was reading too but got bored half way down ...will take a look and write another letter to SIRC.

Let me know how your case goes with SIRC and I will keep you updated withmine too.

My background check with CSIS was completed in June 2010 but I only got my "desicion made" letter in october 2010. The CSIS wrote me:
"CSIS is one of several organizations that CIC may consult while assessing an immigation file and determining whether a person is admissable to Canada. In carrying out the screening process, CIC also works closely with the Canada Border Services Agency and the Roal Canadian Mounted Police."

So they are making other background checks too not only with CSIS....

Thanks, found it and omg, it says 77 days !!! wtf ..ive been waiting 7 months ..gunna call SIRC tommorrow and give them some words of mine lol wish me luck lol

How did you guys find out that you can contact SIRC? I never knew that I could get in touch with them. I wonder if the process is a bit different for outland? Also I saw as well the 77 days, why has my husband and all of you waited for month and in my husbands case 2 years? This is bull :) I really hope that we don't have to wait long for a decision after the interview. They already had 2 years what else can they possibly do. Sorry just bitching a bit, makes me feel better :)

I found out about SIRC through another web site a while ago , I guess the guy waiting for PR had waited 5 years or something like that! makes you sick dosent it knowing we are waiting longer than usual ...Im not sure if outland is different maybe someone with more knowledge on this could help. I hope they do as this must be frustrating for you both .

Heres where I found all the info.
