Danish's case is really strange. I have read other stories of interview on this very forum and it seemed interviews are formalities. Definitely not in case of Danish. Questions thrown at him were not just technical; they could only be asked by someone who actually knew about the subject.
Considering Danish works for a big company, making the excuse of JD not matching the job is really strange. It would be REALLY difficult for VO to justify this claim, if challenged.
I am quite confident, VO will have a review of the case and Danish should be alright. Fingers crossed and prayers for Danish.
danishfareed said:you are all very kind. here is a bit of history
I work in ADNOC (the national oil company of UAE) in corporate planning and budget section. our daily activity is nothing crunching numbers and developing forecasts.
the VO was somewhat pre determined not to get me through, he did not ask for any documentation and when I highlighted he unwillingly took in my JD. the questioning started with bit of my history, I am a qualified CPA, ACMA, LFA and a masters in strategic management.
he asked me what I do, I explained a bit of my current role. my information was bit technical as well because it relates to oil and my previous role for automotive sector.
anyways at near end of the interview he said "we had a concern about your application as not in line with NOC 1112 and I am not satisfied with your responses" I responded in asking which area can I explain further, he said " your answers are broad" I replied I am only answering your broad level question do you have any specific questions to ask for example you asked about capital management, do you want me to explain about individual perspective a corporate perspective or any product portfolio do you have in mind where I can be more specific....he had nothing to say......
he was typing everything I was saying, I asked him if you can read through what you have written !!! he had a good typing speed but when he started reading I felt the writing was very fragmented and not making any sense......I did make sense!!!!
well our interview last for more than one hour and 10 minutes!! I kept explaining and he kept writing...at the very end may be because he did not want to give a bad feeling he said we will review and get back to you. at that moment he threw away my paper under his desk like rubbish. I said these are originals if he be kind enough to return and take photocopies instead...which he agreed !!!
so this is the unbiased version of the story. what I feel strongly is that we were not able to connect or may be I was too focused on explaining what I knew rather than what he wanted to listen....!!
I think the decision is final at his end, it was more or less the same case at the start of the interview ............. but this is all very confusing why did CIC accepted my application and why I was sent a confirmation letter. then all of a sudden an interview which was of the generic requirement as was sent o you all.....
I will request for a judicial review of the application and the scenario !!
let me know your thoughts !!

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you...I know u guys must be anxiously waiting for my interview story...so without wasting more time...I hereby announce that I have cleared my interview thanks to Almighty. I have just landed Karachi...my phone was malfunctioned so couldn't respond immediately....here's the details:
I reached 45 mins before the schedule...a guy was lineup before me...He was grilled for over 45 mins and I was already expecting drama...anyways he got out and the VO immediately called me so couldn't get the chance to speak with him.....there are 6 interview rooms (btw go to 10th floor not 9th as mentioned in the letter)...I guess only one VO was there as I was also called into same room...I entered and said Good Morning...he replied pleasantly and asked me to sit down...
First of all he asked for my passport... I handed over to him...he checked it and start writing on his computer...I was taking my stuff out of the bag and he was kinda annoyed and told me to settle down...for a moment I became nervous but quickly regroup myself for the task...than asked me for the forms...I said which one? He said Schedule A and Travel forms. I gave them to him and asked do you need these additional family forms.....he said ohh yes...than after looking at the forms....he asked me have you filled the forms by yourself...I Said which one? He said Schedule A....I told yes of course...he replied Ok...and said I need you to write your name and sign it while I will fill the rest of the details myself in front of you...than he said by signing this you are under oath.... I said “Okkkk”...than he explained to me why I was called for the interview...As per him, I was randomly chosen under security check guidelines...
Than he said I will ask you some questions which you need to answer truly...he added sometime people are I duuno afraid and instead of giving relevant answers they just give exaggerate things which actually causes us to start distrusting the candidate...I said “mmmm-hmmm”...so just speak the truth... I said of course....than he asked me do you have original contracts of your employers...I gave all of correspondence (reference letter, appointment letter, conformation letter, salary increment letters, promotion letters, etc)....he briefly examined each letter...while looking at the letters he said do you have your original education docs with you...I gave him those as well...he also looked at each the doc but very briefly...than asked my why did you chose this profession....my answer was instant and thorough....he was writing while I was answering and moving his face vertically....than he said tell me about you job...again my answer was instant and instead of digging into the job part after telling him briefly about my job I asked him do you wana see my work portfolio.... he said yes sure...I take out 6-7 investment research reports and he started smiling and said just give me the first two....I gave him that and he looked into them and than didn't ask JD related questions...rather he asked my what problems do you face while performing your job effectively...I explained him two major issues...
than he asked my do you have updated PCC...you have only resided in Pakistan.. right?....I said yes I do and I gave him my PCC and he checked them, this time thoroughly and returned me....while checking PCC he said you have been to New York a lot of times...I was showing him my USA road show presentation from window and he replied himself ohh yes the annual event...he than returned my PCC...I even asked don't you wana keep it....he said no I am satisfied. ... He didn't ask for proof of fund or any other document listed in the letter...
He than told me that I am giving you positive legibility review and I am satisfied with your credentials...he than explained my the next process....he told me that I am here for one more week...I am also clearing your criminality record so when I return first I have to finish urgent office matters than I will issue medical request to you...you need to submit the result...as soon as I get the results I would ask you to pay visa fees...and we will issue you the visa which will be valid for 10 months... (February next year, he explicitly said it)..you would be required to go to Canada and get your PR....I am certain that you need to come back in order to close you affairs and move permanently...in the end he once again said you were picked randomly for the interview and came a long way....I only said my pleasure...finally he said that since you are here and we do not meet candidates face to face mostly...you have an opportunity to ask me anything...I just asked him his rough time line to send me PCC....he said within a month...and added than it will be up to you.....if you submit the results quickly I will send you the fee requisition accordingly...I said ok thanks...he said thank you for coming....I said my pleasure....have a nice day....he said you too..
Thanks guys for all the support and wishes...best of luck to all of you....This is just a formality....so keep it simple ...be confident....don't say anything which makes you suspicious...don't exaggerate things about your job duties...btw in my case he was not making wired face while I was answering nor he asked me same question second time and looked into his notes as mentioned by our friends...in nutshell, my VO was very nice, supportive as well as a good listener...
