Hello,
My mother, a super visa holder, is in Canada since June 2026, she is extending her visa but will travel out for 3 months to visit another relative. She intends to come back on 7 February 2027. The insurance purchased expires in June 2027 and the insurance company can only extend the policy until 21 December 2027. We'll be lacking for a bit over 1 month to make up for the 1 year insurance. Would that be acceptable as it's close to 1 year?
Previously in August she stayed out of country for 1 month and a half prior and re-entered Canada with 2 months short on the 1 year insurance. There was no question asked at the border services. At the time, I wasn't aware that could have caused an issue.
Any of you here who had parents coming back with under 1 year of insurance with no issue?

There is no need to try to extend her visit. When she tries to visit in February she will be evaluated for another up to 5 year visit. She should inform her insurance company once she leaves Canada and she will need to purchase another policy that starts in February 2027. She got lucky when she entered Canada last time and tmot having proof of a 1 year policy is grounds for entry refusal. I hope that at a certain point she has returned to her home country for an extended amount of time because if she is leaving Canada every year for a few months and trying to return it will appear that she is attempting to live in Canada which is not possible on a supervisa. At a certain point she will likely be refused entry if appears though she has made Canada her home base and not her home country.
