I need to know if there is any insurance company in Québec or Canada that covers pregnancy when already pregnant or if there is any other way to avoid the extremly high costs of giving birth.
(Finding a midwife is resulting to be impossible.)

Thanks.

Quebec govt provides insurance coverage to pregnant women form Day 1.
Not if you marry someone from Québec and you are not a resident yet!
Then you are not covered and for the government it's like the marriage does not exist until you make the whole process of family sponsorship which takes 12 months or more. It takes just a few months only to gather all the documents they are asking. While in Spain a resident married a foreigner and after one month she got permanent residency and also was covered by the governmental health insurance and gave birth to her son and had nothing to pay. After the marriage she also was automatically covered by the husbands health insurance. In Canada meanwhile, you marry a canadian but it takes 12 months or more to ger the residency and until then, you are not covered by any insurance, not your spouses and not the governmental one, you are on your own basically and having to pay at least 7000$ in child birth expenses for a baby that is canadian and will grew up in this country.
So in Québec you are coverd by day one AFTER you get the residency, not after marriage or after landing, unless you land with the residency already.
So complicated here. Unheard of in Europe. You never hear in the news someone had to pay thousands of dollars just to give birth in Europe. While in Canada and the U.S.A. so many people do. And getting a midwife here without insurance is practically impossible. They don't take anyone. So it is ridiculous that a canadian man has to pay thousands upon thousands of dollars just for his wife to give birth to his son or her daugher, just because it takes so long to get the permanent residency and to be covered by the governmental health plan where you can only take a medical appointment online at exactly 17:00h and where it takes 586 days to get a family doctor assigned. Really sad and canadians deserve better that that.

Insurance companies will not cover the birth once you are already pregnant.

Having the birth with the assistance of a midwife is really the only way to reduce the costs while still having the baby in Canada. However as you have found, midwives are generally in very short supply.

Then have the baby in Europe

Here is a handy link to help you out

https://www.airtransat.com/en-CA/deals/europe-flights?search=flight&flightType=RT&pax=1-0-0-0

Not expensive at all
If I could, I would, but it's not possible to have the baby in Europe, because I would have to travel in the 7th month, since no company lets a pregnant woman fly after that, due to it beeing a risk, and my husband cannot take 3 months vacation, and I cannot go alone and have the baby alone in Europe by myself. Also, we would have to pay for accomodation during those tree months and we have pets, therefore it would be something very complicated to do.
The solution would really be if Canada would give their people more rights and not making their male citizens pay for having their son or daughter born in their own country just because their wifes are not canadian yet. It is a very unfair and discriminatory system.
And if we could move to Europe, we would, but moving is not that easy and at the moment just not possible.
But well, we have no other choice than to pay those thousands upon thousands of dollars for our child to be born in this country.

Yes, that is very sad that insurance companies here are ready to cover cancer and aids and all kind of very expensive treatments, but not having a child. They are really wicked.
Midwifes is not cheap. One maison de naissance told us that it costs 4000$ which is not cheap. And if there is one small complication, we still would have to go to the hospital. Which would make the delivery even much more expensive. So it really is not much worth it to go to a midwife, because who knows what they consider a complication. Maybe the delivery is taking a bit long and they immediately send you to a hospital and get a comission for doing so.
And the only way is to be in a waiting list, since midwifes seems to be very in demand here. Very unfortunate to having to go trough this, just because the canadian government takes so long to give a person residency, while in Spain it takes just one month. Really unfair to my canadian husband who has to pay for his child to be born in this country. ☹

Insurance companies don't covered cancer treatments either.

If your husband can get residency in Spain in 1 month why didn't you move there or why don't you move now? You don't like various aspects of life in Canada apparently.

What I am confused about is that you landed back in Sept/2018, so you would have known you were pregnant at that time, and elected to leave Europe for Canada, more than likely, you got pregnant, and wanted to be with the father, fine that was your choice. And all the paperwork would have been processed for months before that. But there was no investigation on the part of the father, or you for that matter, if the child was going to be covered by the healthcare system ? You know, not assuming every part of the world has the same rules as where you came from, which they don't, and you are now expressing frustration on a countries healthcare system and insurance companies rules ??

Btw, 36 weeks is the cutoff for being allowed to fly as being pregnant

It's called family planning. You chose to get pregnant without coverage.

As stated on the other thread where you ranted about this, yes, it does happen in Europe.

Hello Atecami, would like to know how your birth went and if you found a solution in the end? Kind of in the same situation right now and trying to find the best way to reduce costs. Would be happy to hear from you.

He/she posted it here:

OP stays in Montreal so depends on where you are, the cost, process may be different. Healthcare is different in each province.
