Hi everyone,
I just received my PPR and I’ve just started my 6th month of pregnancy. I’m planning to move to Canada on September 15, and I’m feeling a bit anxious about how health coverage works for new arrivals, especially for maternity care.

For those who have gone through a similar situation which is giving birth in Canada shortly after arriving is there any document or special provision from the provincial health insurance (or any temporary coverage) that allows you to have your delivery costs covered during the 3-month waiting period before the health insurance becomes active?

I’ve heard some people mention that in certain provinces, there might be a temporary paper or confirmation that hospitals can accept so that you don’t have to pay out of pocket during that waiting period. I’d love to hear from anyone who has personal experience or knows how it works in practice.

Your advice and stories would mean a lot to me, thank you
