applying inland with a request for OWP.

I had spent some time in Canada for a few months back in 2014. I have listed that time as "unemployed" on my OWP application. However, while I was here I volunteered for the YMCA and taught fitness classes for about 2 months as it was clear that it was just volunteer work. I was NEVER paid but obviously had to do a police background check through the Y. Should I include this in my Schedule A form and anywhere else it asks for employment?

Will excluding this volunteer work affect my application for PR and OWP?

I am no expert on this but I felt that the definition of "unemployed" means you did not receive any income, and that doesn't mean you can't engage in volunteering activities. With my application, I have stuck sticky notes on places where I thought I wanted to further clarify what my answer meant. If you are anxious about them defining volunteering as employment then you can write a note on there explaining your situation.

No, volunteer work does not count as employment and should not be listed as such.

That's what my husband says. Just nervous about leaving it out and then it coming up and affecting my application.
