Hi. I am American and my wife is dual Canadian/American. We are currently living in the US and are planning on moving to Canada. We would like to move in the fall, so in about 9 months. We're wondering if we should apply for Spousal Sponsorship now or move to Canada and then apply. Also wondering about whether my wife should sponsor me as we are both self employed here in the US and would be setting up our business in Canada, but starting from scratch, so no Canadian income to show. My wife's daughter is a professor in Canada and could sponsor me if that would be better. Anybody have experience with this type of situation and could give us advice, we'd appreciate it. Thanks. We are both over 65 and have been married a long time.

Typical spousal sponsorship timelines for Canadian Sponsor / American PA is about 6 months, so given that, I suggest you could apply now as outland and await approval for a move in Fall 2019.

It is ONLY your Canadian wife that can sponsor you. Her daughter cannot 'sponsor' you (as defined for immigration purposes).

Another quick question. I want to make sure we're filling out the correct application form. So for Outland Spousal sponsorship, we should use IMM 0008F and IMM 1344e?

Get your spousal sponsorship pack here by selecting the correct answers in the drop boxes:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/spouse.asp

If you have already done so and those are the forms it says to complete, then those are the forms. There is no difference in forms between inland and outland (only a difference in how you answer one of the questions on one of the forms, can't remember which, but it will be obvious when you get to it).
