Just got a letter from vegreville today saying my spousal application has been transferred to missasauga case processing. The application was filed in July 2013. Just wondering why it would be transferred and what this could mean since we live in Vancouver.

I could be wrong but I believe it's because all inland apps are now to be processed at CPC-M instead of CPC-V. This is supposed to significantly decrease waiting times for inland apps so good luck and congrats!

It means that your application was randomly selected to be part of a pilot program...of sorts.

As of Jan 17, 2014 all `new' Family Class Sponsorship applications were/are to be sent to CPC-M (Mississauga).

However...those sneaky buggers at CIC are routing many applications that were already received by CPC-V to CPC-M.

Nobody knows just yet if this is truly a positive sign, as CIC proclaims, but CPC-M does have more experience in these applications, which is the only saving grace at this point...for most of us.

Thanks alot for the help. I always stress this whole process, I hate having my life in some random persons hands that doesnt even know me.

What do you mean by "randomly selected " ? It is clear that all applications from July 2013 and so on,got transfer to CPC -M . The transferring is already done and that's why we are just starting to see people receiving this letter just Today , we will see more letter these next 6 days for sure ,I believe .

It is NOT clear that ALL applications received >July 2013 have been transferred to CPC-M. Where did you get that information?

There are some late 2013 applicants that still have correspondence from/with CIC and are told that their applications did not transfer to CPC-M.

It is at the very least...puzzling,

No I haven't heard of anybody from the second half of 2013 that received such letter like you mention.
BTW Ponga , when did you apply ? Have you tried calling the agents and ask where is your app?

I'm a late 2013 applicant. I haven't called CIC because at this point...I'm not concerned.

Rumour has it that this shift to CPC-M is due to the workload that CPC-V had, and the fact that CPC-M is more experienced with Family Class applications, which should yield a an overall improvement in processing times [eventually].

I applied August 2013, and we live in Mississauga.

We have NOT rec'd notification of our Application being transfered as yet.

I have been religiously checking the mailbox.....

I'm sure it means nothing at all.....BUT...still stresses me out as to why ours hasn't been transfered.....

Unless we just didn't get the mail yet, but ppl in Montreal who applied around the same time already got their letters.

Is it because our file is a bit more difficult?? (I previously started a sponsorship for my ex husband, which I withdrew before it was approved. My husband has lived in many countries and requires police checks from all over the world. He came on a Visitors in 2010, but we decided to stay once our son was born. He has a record in the US - which wouldn't incur jail time in Canada, but will likely at least slow down processing. etc.etc.) All those things will slow down our processing time I know, but I wonder if it will affect them transferring the file, or what....

Does ANYONE who rec'd the letter that their file was transfered see any indication of this on eCAS?

It would be good to know what the real process is for the shift from CPC-V to CPC-M.

A valid reason for concern, is if an application is lost (or a portion of the application) during the transfer. I imagine shoving a mound of papers into a truck and shipping it to Mississauga has potential risks, but more than likely the files are being transferred electronically. Maybe even the supporting documents (including pictures, etc.) are digitized by someone at CPC-V, thus creating electronic files for those as well.

Obviously, the validated forms with bar codes, once scanned, are automatically entered into their system, which means that their transfer is instantaneous.

Time will tell.

I got the letter too, that my application has been transferred to Mississauga. I applied on August 2013. I' am hoping that good news will come soon since its been seven months waiting and stressing me out a lot. But we just need to stay positive and believe that everything is okay. :)
