Could be worse.. It could be "Sorting Hat".

come on, in Jamaica you got communities with some very weird names like wait a bit, may pen, bull bay, buff bay, boys town. alligator pond, and the list goes on.

I bet, that every country has funny names. In Hungary one small town name is the same as we call the women underwear, an other is like you would say "your testicles". I updated your info:)

thanks very much, keep up the good work sophiee. its very informative and creative on your path in doing so. its surprising to see that there are so many of us in the same boat so to speak.

Thank you for the kind words, I'm happy to do this:) And I agree, whoever was the first who came up with the idea of the spreadsheet, I'm very thankful for him/her for that:)

Hey sophie, did you ever get a chance to add me to the spreadsheet?

No, sorry, haven't seen your data. Send me a pm or an email!

i believe applying with OWP still wont give her implied status as she doesn't have a current work permit. right?

Ponga said:
I haven't heard that one. AFAIK, as long as an OWP is sent with the Inland application, this basically `extends' whatever their legal status was until AIP (worker, visitor, student, etc.).

But...I was wrong once before.

Ok...maybe twice before.

I read somewhere on the CIC website that implied status only applies for submitting an application that would give you the same status as you "are right now". For example, if you are on a study permit and submit an application for a work permit, you will not have implied status.

More info here:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=188&t=17

I am not sure if this same case applies here, however.

"If you applied for a different kind of permit

You cannot do any of the activities allowed by the original work permit. For example, you may have come to Canada as a worker and then applied for a study permit. If so, you must stop working once your work permit expires. After that, you cannot work or study until you get a new permit."

correct me if i am wrong (and i would love to be proved wrong :P). CPC-M has only processed applications that were transferred from Vegreville. nothing that was originally sent to Mississauga yet?

I sent my application directly to Mississauga, we got AOR last week.

I think on the spreadsheet, it says transferred from Veg, but we actually sent it direct.

About implied status, see section 5.6 of CIC manuals ip06-eng.pdf. (Sorry that the site doesn't allow posting links.)

This document is almost 4 year old. I hope nothing has changed regarding this.

when I submit my permanent resident application I apply for a open work permit but didn't pay my right of permanent resident fee or get my medical done. will they send me a mail indication when and where I should get my medical done?

When they process your sponsors application and give first stage approval, they will send you a letter requesting your medical and to pay the right of permanent resident fee. They won't necessarily tell you where to go to get your medical done. You can find this information online by searching for the appropriate doctor in your area.

thank you very much rrsweet. you guys on this forum are the best. why pay a lawyer thousands when I can get million dollar advice here for free? that's a no brainer to me. keep it up guys. we are all in this thing together so one hand washes the other or back home in Jamaica they say one hand cant clap it takes two.
