Yes, you need to fill out IMM5710. You also need to upload everything that is being asked for. I recently filled mine for PGWP and I uploaded the following:
IMM 5710
Passport copy
School letter (AIP letter in your case)
E-medical (not sure if you will need this)

Thank you so much, was able to finish it.. I don't need e-medical , but had to upload a picture, no clue why... Lately I am no more wondering why I have to do something, I just do what they are asking for.. ;D that makes things really much easier.

hi guys just wanted to post an update, I got my letter from cic that my hubby has been approved as a sponsor and I received my open work permit as well. I am scheduled for medical in two weeks.

You can call them or do it online at CRA website( you need a code to make an account). We also had to send our marriage certificate as proof later on.

Here is info. directly from the website:

How do I advise the CRA of my marital status change?
If your marital status has changed, you must inform the CRA of your new status and the date of the change. You can do this by using “Change my marital status” on My Account on the CRA Web site or by calling 1-800-387-1193.

You may also complete and send form RC65, Marital Status Change or provide the information by sending a letter to the tax centre that serves your area. Be sure your letter includes the date (day, month and year) of the marital status change, your name and social insurance number, along with your spouse or common-law partner's name and social insurance number (if applicable).

My wife changed her status from Single to Married last year using the online CRA Account. As far as I know she did that within a month as we're gathering the documents already that time for spousal sponsorship. Did she need to submit also the form?? Or is the online enough??

My concern too is i haven't inform the CRA about my marital status, should I do it by form or call them? Thank you

No, changing online should be enough unless, CRA asks you to send in proof that you are a married couple.
You can call them to confirm if they have you listed as married, which they should since your wife updated online.

Did you not get your OWP? When my father got his AIP in 2011 CIC sent it to him twice in the mail and he never received it. He went DT calgary to CIC office in the Harry Hays building and the guy told him he could see the OWP on file but could not print it ( unless he had lost it and got a police report) my dad went straight to the police and did that cost him 30 bucks. Went back to the office and they printed his OWP for him. I don't know if that helps.

Hi guys,

I sent OWP application 1 month after I sent the Sponsorship Application. The letter that was sent to my wife where they ask her to do medical check up, tell her that now she can apply for work permit. However we did send the Application and I don't see anything about OWP application received on Ecas as well. Does anyone else have this kind of letter and get the OWP after all? I am wondering if I should apply for the OWP again..

Hi Line.a I was in the same situation as you, so I had to wait 6 weeks called CIC back and they sent me a new OWP which I got within a week and used it for only 1 week or less and landed as a PR waste of my $150 lol. So unfortunately you have to wait and call CIC back in about 6 weeks from when the original permit was sent and make sure your address has been changed properly by CIC so you landing letter is not sent to your previous address too.

Oh ok! They requested some documents from you then ?! That's good at least you know your file has been opened and they are working on it. Hopefully we will hear something this week
