Just a quick question after looking over the OWP application. On the app it shows a place to enter a job offer.. Since it's an OPEN work permit is this necessary to include something in this space? or should I just leave that blank?

I hope you are all having a great weekend. I have a question that I hope you can help me figure out. I currently live in Toronto, but I am getting a job offer in Vancouver, BC. I am dying to accept it and move there, but of course my biggest concern is, what happens with my sponsorship application? I submitted the application on Jan 5, 2013, and got the AOR on Jan. 29, 2013, confirming they had started my file on jan 7th, 2013, and now we are just waiting to have the application process started, but all of our info in the application is "Toronto, ON" based (my job, address, etc).

How would it work if I move to BC? would it have a big (and negative) impact on my application? can it be just as "simple" as notifying immigration about the change of address, and province? would it delay the process of my application?

It only impacts your application if you are moving to Quebec Otherwise, you can just advise them of the address change. My advice: pay Canada post for forwarding for the time your application is pending. There are far too many people who have found CIC sends something to their OLD address to argue it's worth saving $75 by not paying Canada Post their due.

If you don't get a piece of written correspondence, then yes. But as far as CIC is concerned? No, it won't matter to them (again, unless it's Quebec, where you need to obtain the CSQ.)

Hi there! I submitted an extension of my work permit with the same employer last Jan. 14, 2013 since my current work is getting expired feb. 16, 2013 (paper application). And then Feb. 20, 2013 I mailed my permanent resident application, I just got married last dec. and my husband is sponsoring me. Together with my application for PR I included my open work permit application. I am a little worried coz they might refuse my application for an open work permit since my current work permit is now expired. Im still waiting for the approval of my work permit
(for the same employer) and hopefully they will be able to track it before they open my OWP and PR application. I accepted my new contract with my employer coz I dont to take the risk of not having a legal status while waiting for my PR application. Hoping somebody can share there ideas about this.

Technically you were not out of status at any time since you submitted an extension of closed work permit before it expired. They will process your open work permit when you get sponsorship approval (AIP) which will be in about 6 months. I am in the same situation, now I have a closed work permit and also an open work permit. You can continue to work at your current job till you get the open work permit where you can start working at other jobs.

That's actually the issue - they do need to have some rationale for refusing you entry. For example, if you ran into trouble while outside Canada (e.g., a drunk driving charge) they could then refuse to allow you to re-enter the country. If you are refused, you can challenge the refusal, especially in light of the harsh effect of such a refusal.

She can do both from Canada. Follow these instructions:

- Basically mail the form, fingerprints, and payment to FBI and they mail back a form. Mine took 5 weeks.
- Fingerprints might be at the police station. Some areas don't do that anymore, so she would need to google a location nearby to get fingerprints done. I went through the National Pardon Centre in downtown Calgary. They provided everything, including FBI cards and had a guarantee - if the fingerprints were bad, I got them done again for free (and I needed it!).

- Select North America, Canada, and find a doctor near you.

so the police fingerprints can be done at a local police station here in ontario? just walk in basically and say its needed for immigrations?
