Well if they want proof of 1st stage approval. AIP is it. Tell them to open their eyes or send them a reminder that AIP is proof of 1st stage approval. The OWP doesnt say anything about your PR application.

I'm sure it will get sorted out.

Quick question for you guys as well, does anyone know how far in advance landing appointments are made? I'm just hoping that it doesn't run into our vacation time!

When is your vacation (hopefully not leaving Canada if you applied Inland)?

Landing appointments seem to be scheduled with 30 days, unless you're in Vancouver...which is a couple of months (or more) on average.

If mine does, I can't find it. It does say "Application for Permanent Resident status has received initial approval."

I was out of status when I applied. That might have something to do with it.

My previous work permit said the same thing when I was a refugee applicant.

Ahhh that might be it. Technically you still dont have status since you were out of status when you applied. Keep trying with AB Healthcare maybe they can help you.

I'm allowed to work but not a temporary resident nor can I get healthcare. what? lol.
I was going to go apply for a driving license I guess that has to wait too.
Its a very depressing day for me. I have been limbo'ing for so long =|
hopefully everything works out.

You still might be able to get healthcare and driver's license. I don't know about those parts.
You still got AIP which is the critical thing so there's something to be happy about.

You're actually one of the lucky ones that received OWP with AIP.

Apparently, most that are out of status have to wait even longer for their OWP.

You are right. I should be happy that I'm not stuck without AIP and OWP.
Hopefully the registry and AB healthcare figure things out and grant my healthcare.

No, definitely not out of Canada. Just out of the province. I would be too worried to travel out of Canada without hubby having a PR card in hand. I called CIC this morning and they said that Halifax has a waiting period of 3-6 weeks for landing appointments so we're leaving at the end of next week so we're thinking we'll be okay but the agent gave us the fax number for the office if we wanted to inform them just in case.



EDIT: So hubby wants me to send CIC a fax just in case, but I'm not sure what or how to broach the subject with them in a friendly manner. I definitely don't want them to think that we're snubbing our process. Anyone have any ideas of how I should approach this?

That's what the guy at CIC told me to do because it's not only address change, but also employer change. It matters to them because I'm the sponsor, I guess. Anyways, hope that it's not delaying my application...

Me too. I sent them a letter 2-3 weeks ago about my change of address and employer change... It sucks if that's going to cause any delay.

For change of address you have to change it trough Ecas and trough the phone . I heard that NEVER trough the Mail . ( change of address matters more than change of employer ,in my point of view)

Hi everyone. We got AIP today! My wife also got approval for her work permit which we sent off later. Although we sent in the medicals and police check and paid all the fees we did not get DM. Hopefully soon. The email came from Vegreville.

I don't post on here but I do read lots of your comments. Thanks for the support and good information.

My husband's OWP says the same thing, but he has health cover and was apply to get his SIN number as well....no problems at all.
