Can people on Open Work Permit attend school as local residents or do they have to get a separate study permit?

My understanding is that you would need a separate study permit.

What about the tuition? Would such a person be treated as an international student or local resident while on a study permit during his/her phase-II evaluation?

Can anyone tell me about the FBI Certificate from the US. how long it takes and what do they need in the certificate? do they also put marital status from the US in the Police Certificate or is it just criminal record?

I need some info on this if anyone knws please. will greatly appreciate it.

How long does it take after the CIC receives the FBI certificate for the Landing interview letter. because that is the last thing the CIC requested. I believe they extended our medical because they didn't ask for the meds. but for FBI Certificate.

anyone know how long after FBI certificate it takes the CIC to send landing interview letter for PR?

please refer to the link below:

You will need to get your fingerprints taken at the local police facility on FBA prescribed form.

We were asked for an RCMP check at the beginning of August, and sent it in to CIC about 2 weeks later when it came from the RCMP in the mail. (*We sent the medical and police check from my husbands country in with the original application) We just got our DM/landing interview letter last week. So, for us, it was a little over two months.. I think it depends on a lot of other things too though, how busy the office is or the officer processing your file, if there are any complications, etc. But that is how long it took for ours.

Sadly yes, I have many times enquired to my local Community College about this and similar things and until you have your PR you will still be regarded as an international student :/ Which is why I am not taking even the shorter courses because 3x the price just isn't worth it!

Our Lawyer misguided us and told my husband to do the Canadian Police check back in September 2011 rather than doing the US criminal check, therefore we have to send the FBI Certificate from states which will take anywhere from 16-18 weeks in process time and we have only 90 days to submit all docs. We just got approved for our first stage on Oct 21st and received a letter requesting for his FBI certificate from states on Oct 25th. I have prepared all the necessary docs for his FBI Certificate now we are just not sure how long this whole process will take for our Landing Interview.

we would have sent in all this info if we knew ahead of time like with did with my husbands Canadia police certificate.

any guesses???

Our lawyer did the same. He told me not to send FBI cert or medicals or OWP application as these will be done in phase-II. It was on this forum, I came to know how important it was to file all these documents with the original application.

Anyway, the FBI cert should not take more than 60 days after you mail in the completed form.

I hope it won't take more than 8 weeks. Because we are given 90 days time to submit everything into CIC.
