I have a question I am hoping someone can answer. I have run out of Alberta Health until I get AIP, but my husband's job provides separate insurance for things like dentistry, eyecare, chiropractic, etc. Does anyone know if I need to have Alberta Health in order to still be able to use the perks of this insurance plan? It's through Sunlife. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks Screech! The whole thing lasted less than 10 minutes. The rep checked my ID, hubby's ID, my passport and confirmed my address. We had our baby with us, she asked if we were receiving any welfare - No, if hubby worked - yes, if i had ever been convicted or denied entry to Canada - No, If i had any other dependent or spouse :-[ overseas - No, then it was simply sign here, initial here, took one of the pics i carried and Congrats you're now a permanent resident. Unfortunately there were no service canada reps there so i couldn't do my SIN at the same time. I'll have to wait till I receive my PR card in 6-8 weeks.

It depends on the alberta health plan, mainly how it is funded. If the alberta health plan is funded through personal income tax along with business income tax then business may not allow you to get on business health benefits until you get on alberta health benefits. Reason being is that the business benefits is a complement with alberta health care. Business coverage provide coverage that alberta health does not provide.

Business provide dental/health benefits on the premise that their employees and their spouses/common laws are all on provincal health care. So it is quite likely that once you lose your alberta health care, you will also lose your spouse company benefits. Although you might still be able to get company benefits after you lose alberta care by not informing the business, you are commiting fraud on account that you are getting company benefits you are not entitled to.

This is the case with my wife. She could not get any company benefits until she gets on ontario health care first. Which is fair. Why should the business support spousal benefit if spouse is not even being supported by provincial coverage.

Plus in theory you were suppose to be on private insurance until provincal health care kick in. We were suppose to have private insurance for 3 months for myself and 2 kids until ontario health care kick in. And insurance for my wife until she gets AIP and get on OHIP 3 months afterward. We took a huge gamble and not bother getting insurance for any of us. Saving us a ton of money but if something happened, we would be royally screwed financially.

Hi anndreea,

Your situation is the same with most people in the timesheet. You should already received your AOR sometime in JAN. Your next step is the (approved in prinicple status) AIP. With the updated 10 month wait, you may not get AIP until october timeframe. So you are in the same boat as everyone waiting for their AIP stage. Just have to sit tight and wait patiently as much as possible before going crazy. Ha ha ha.

If you are interested in joining the list in the timesheet, please let me know and provide as much info as possible.

Regards,

Screech339

I'm sorry but I still can't understand what is AOR = Acknowledgment of Receipt ..... :-[ I received an email on 17 Jan , and they told me to complete and send again a questionnaire. In this letter they give me UCI. This is AOR ?

That may be as close to AOR but it is not. An AOR letter is usually sent to the sponsor, in your case your husband, saying they got his application on a specific date. It is an official date that CIC will use when it come to website saying "working on applications submitted on "date blah blah".

This AOR date is not an important date as my spreadsheet doesn't take AOR date as a determining factor. The spreadsheets considered AIP date as one of the driving factors in determining length of time between stages.

So don't worry if you don't know the jan AOR date. It is not that important.

Yes, you're right. I just search on emails and I found it. I receive AOR on Jan 18,2013 :)
One more question....when I must to make Record of landing, I must to go to the border, or to an immigration office in city where I live?

When you reach a decision made status, you will be notified by email which local CIC office nearest you that will make the final decision. Basically saying you got Decision Made and will be landing at local office. You will get an appointment letter in the mail from local office at that time when you can come and "land". You will not be leaving Canada to become Permanent Resident. You have "landed" in the city that your local CIC is located.

Good luck and congrats to boredhousewife on her landing today. I am sure it will go well for her.

Thanks mimence777 and those who gave my feedback on the updates on timesheets. The timesheets are never done until it reaches 100% PR completion.

Please continue to provide updates whenever you can when you get a chance. Much appreciated for everyone's contribution.

Hi guys, congrats to all who had DM and landing already. I have been very busy, but I read through once in a while. I do have a question. Do i need to pay the RPR fees before Vancouver office will schedule my landing appointment or can I pay once I get the landing letter?
Thanks for your various contributions.
God bless and good luck to all who are still waiting.

I haven't had to do this as I paid the fee up front when I started the application.

Some local offices will let you pay the fee when you show up at landing interview, other amy want you to pay before you arrive at landing. I think it depends on each office's ability to accept payments or not.

If I had a choice, I rather pay online ahead of time and keep receipt. Take the receipt with you as proof of payment. However if you pay early, then the letter will not ask you to pay the fee. However if you didn't pay the fee, the landing letter will tell you remind you to pay the fee. It may instruct you in how to pay for it. Ie "pay the fee at landing appointment" or "pay the fee online before landing"

You're welcome. You didn't let me know if you want to be on timesheet. I don't put people on list without their permission. So until I get it from you I will add you.
