The area in which the CIC Calgary office is in, is still in the "red zone" meaning still off limits or still have water. And the electricity is still not back on, downtown.

Hi Guys,

I'm new in this forum. I read all the post and I didn't find a answer to the question : why CIC etobicoke didn't send me a letter for my landing appointment yet? I've been wainting for nine weeks, almost 10, since i receveid a e-mail from Vegreville, the 18 april 2013, to tell me that a decision has been made. I called CIC and they sent a e-mail to CIC Etobicoke. Is it normal that it's taking so long? Is there someone in the same or similar situation?

Thanks guys

Hi Paul,

Unfortunately it takes that long. We didn't get our landing letter from etobicoke until the 9th week after DM. Another person also waited that long before getting anything from same office. Since you have waited 9 weeks already, you should be getting a letter anytime this week. In the meantime, contact CIC on a weekly basis to get the ball moving.

BTW: where are you living and what country are you coming from?

Morning everyone,

With some news last week with 2 DMs, we are finally getting some movement. I updated the timesheets with figtoria's status updated and marsiangal and Paul2013 added to timesheet.

Hopefully this week those of us who have
Passed out 8 months wait for AIP would finally
Hear something!!

Finally we are seeing some movement again....good news to hear about 2 DM's in the last week. Hopefully we see a flurry of a lot more in the coming weeks ahead!

Apart from drivers license, what other form of address confirmation can be provided at the landing interview? Also, is it the sponsor or applicant asked for address confirmation or both? I'm the applicant and so I need to get an ID in the mean time should I need it

hello, screech339

Hi screech thanks for adding me into the timeline. :)

Miss figtoria can you please send me a message when you get you appointment for landing.
I know it may take a while depending on the local cic office but would be nice and will give me hope once you have yours cause we seem to have a similar timeline. :).

To everyone, I would just like to say a little bit about my case.
I changed my last name (to married) in the middle of the application. And I was so scared. About it. (Also had to wait for new passport)
Turns out there is nothing to worry about. The moment I received my new passport I sent the copy the next day to CiC. And 2 weeks later I got my DM. (With updated name) I think they were just actually waiting for me. Lol.
So if you plan on doing this I do not think it will cause a delay. They may have even was just trying to update my file and decided to give me a DM who knows. Lol. Goodluck everyone!!!

I think its best that both of you have ID to confirm address. They didn't ask my wife for her address confirmation but they did ask me as a sponsor. So drivers licence will do for address confirmation. They did ask my wife for address confirmation verbally.

@sunflora,

I have added you to the timesheet. If you relay me where are you living now and what country you are coming from I can add the info to your status.

I'm confused, why don't people submit the Police check and the Medical at the same time of the application?

I cant see the Logic in holding and delaying your application when they request this from you??

Hi Screech

thank you very much for your prompt response :D

My husband and me are living in Cobourg, Ontario (45 min. east of Toronto) and I come from Taiwan.
And it's nice and warm to have joined this forum...

It's because these documents have a finite lifespan. The medical only lasts for one year. So say your application takes 18 months. That likely means that you have to take another medical. Or perhaps your sponsor isn't approved. Then you've dropped hundreds of dollars on a wasted procedure. Don't get me wrong, I still think it's worth while to send them in with the app, but there are risks involved.

For inland applications, you know that you can wait for about six months (stage 1 approval) before doing medicals. There's no really good reason for deferring PCCs though because as long as you're in Canada they won't age out your PCC from a different country. For outland applications with VOs that have < 15 month processing times it is best to send it in at the same time because you risk slowing down the process otherwise.

Medicals are good for up to 24 months (12 months initial, plus 12 months extension IF requested within 15 months of the examination).
