Hi, can someone tell me if I can apply for my health card with the decision made letter, I am still waiting on the landing one from Montreal office ? It is almost a month now.

Or I have to wait until I get the COPR before I can apply ?

I guess that depends on which province you live in. If it is Ontario, you could've applied with your AIP letter and then bring them a copy of your COPR so they will extend the validity of your card. Other provinces, I have NO idea

Thank you Alurra71.
I live in Montreal.

Hi Screech and others,
did the rules recently change for SIN?
http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/sin/apply/proof.shtml says updated july 18 this yr.

Does this mean I just need my COPR to get my permanent SIN now?

Someone mentioned that it had changed recently. I read that as a COPR would be fine to get your SIN with. Why not take a stroll on down to your local Service Canada and give it a shot? It certainly can't hurt to try :D

Thanks Alurra!! I just want to re-verify with this lovely new rule!! But I did go to canada service first thing in the morning.. just came back! Happy to report that I officially have a permanent SIN! For everyone else applying you just need COPR and ID/Passport. They no longer issue plastic cards so its just you SIN on a piece of paper on the spot. :)

You can go ahead and update the spreadsheet :) Yayyyy! Lol yes it has been a long and frustrating process, especially after file was transferred from Etobicoke to Calgary without a decision. But, in the end, all is well that ends well :)

The officer assigned to the case in Calgary is in direct contact by email. She just sent medical requests and even tried to extend our old medicals, which she reverted the next day that it wasn't possible although she tried. I think we are close to the end. The fact that she wanted to try to extend the medicals makes me think we are close to DM. We finished our emedicals yesterday. Usually, how long should it take from this stage onwards, considering the same office is handling everything from AIP to DM to landing? Thank you all for your support!

Special thanks to computergeek, who I have personally been in touch with, who I have trusted with all my information, and who has spent hours and hours analyzing my case, notes, and emails! Thank you!

I wish I can update you on the spreadsheet but I don't have you listed. Could you provide your timeline so I can add you to the list? I know you posted it in the message earlier but I need more specific info like the day, along with month and year. Also need other info like did you submit OWP with application. When did you get your medical test done., etc etc.
