@ Screech,

Congrats! Your wife had a temporary SIN? Anyway, she got a new SIN. It's good for her! Congrats again! :D

@ Canusai31 and jiggyzealous

I haven't heard that someone got AIP since May 10th. I think applicants in late October hasn't got the AIP yet. :(

I hope to hear good news this week.

@nishika and tomorisu, thanks

@tomorisu,

My wife never had a temporary SIN as we never applied for OWP.

@jiggy,

Thank you. Are you trying to get rid of me? You can't get rid of me that easy. Ha ha ha. I'll be sticking around for a long while despite our process has finally ended.

@computergeek
My husband is here on a Multiple Entrance Visa, he did not receive a stamp at point of entry.

Is there anyway to get a Record of Landing / Visitor Record or Temp Resident Permit after the fact?

We just want to be able to start the graduated licensing program and or Free English classes with WelcomeBC ELSA...

I just got off the phone with CBSA, she was completely unhelpful and said that would all have to go through immigration.
Anything else I could try? THANKS!

@ Screech:

Congrats on your wife's landing....and on the SIN too. ;D

I am still hesitating to go to a Service Canada for the permanent SIN without my Pr Card.
I will try this week maybe to get the permanent SIN with my COPR.

Thanks radio. I don't see any harm in trying to apply for SIN at office again. The only thing that can happen is getting denied SIN. While it may be a waste of your time at least you tried again. Try going to a different service office from the one you landed at. If we were denied we would have went to another service office and try again.

I agree with you. Let's see what happens.

Somebody mentioned a while ago that she tried again at a different office and almost gotten it if the agent didn't asked her manager on how to process copr for SIN.

Hi everyone,

My wife has landed today at etobicoke office.

It is a small office space. Not your typical huge room that you see at ontario service office There were a number of couples waiting. There was one from holland. I asked her how long has she waited since she submitted application. She told me 3 years to land today. So my wife and I are graceful that it took us 10 months.

We went up to the counter when my wife's name was called. The agent asked me for my photo id for id and address confirmation. She reminded me that I am financially responsible for her for the next 3 years. While I agree with that. The issue I had was that my letter stated that I am responsible for 3 years it also said that if sponsored came to Canada as visitor followed by inland sponsorship, then my 3 year responsiblity starts when she entered Canada as a visitor.

Anyway my wife was asked 3 standard questions, have you been convicted in Canada. Have you been denied entry into Canada? 3rd question I don't remember as I was distracted by my 2 kids as the questions were directed at my wife.

After getting COPR in passport, we went back to wait area again to be called back later for SIN application. She has her SIN now. After all that we went to Ontario service office to update her OHIP for status change to permanent OHIP.

The wait for my wife and I is officially done. Just have to wait for PR card and start getting her resume out for job hunting.

congrats to you guys :)

Congrats to Screech and Mrs. Screech!

As for the question about October applicants, Oct 23 here, and nope, no AIP. Closing in on 8 months.

I am surprised no one's contacted their MP to look into their app for these late October applicants who haven't gotten AIP for stage 1. Once I am over the 6 month mark on my app, I will certainly do so. It doesn't hurt to ask and it might even get something going on your application.

Personally, I don't see it doing much good. Once my husband gets home in a couple of weeks, I may see if he'll write a letter to our MP (our MP's preferred language is listed as french, and I'm not bilingual; I think the letter may be better received in his first language, as we're in a pretty separatist part of Northern Quebec). But again, I don't hold out much hope. I think there was already a bit of a slow down, and now there's the strike to add to it.
