Hi guys,

I'm from England and in the process of filling out my inland application form to become a permanent Canadian resident.

I plan on sending my application off on the 1st of June.

I would like to know if I should undertake the medical examination and get a police certificate now, or is it to soon?

In addition, can I get a police certificate from England? In England it is called a CRB check. Would a CRB check count as a police certificate?

Lastly, do I have to undertake the medical examination in Canada? Or can I go to England to do it?

Many thanks,

Ste

hello

- police certificate here acro.police.uk/police_certificates.aspx expensive but fast.
-i advise to do all upfront, medical visit, police certificate ect.. you can take the medical either in Canada or UK

Also if you can do an outland application do not hesitate !

Just curious as to why you plan to submit an INLAND application? Are you aware that you can submit an Outland application from within Canada?
It may be faster for you, since the Inland stream is taking ~ 17 months just for stage 1 (of 2) to be processed!

I can't answer the question regarding your CRB, but you can have your medical examination either in Canada or back in England, as long as you use an approved CIC Panel Physician. You'll find a list on the CIC website.

It's always suggested that the medical and police check(s) be included with the application (Outland), but many people have delayed the medical (and police checks) if applying Inland. It could delay the processing times, but since the medical expires after 1 year, some people have been asked for a second exam if their processing time exceeds one year...which it certainly does for an Inland applicant now!

Good luck!

Thanks for the input guys, much appreciated.

From what I am aware the Outland application takes 62 days for Stage 1 and 29 months for Stage 2 (London, England office).

The Inland application takes 27 months. All information is from cic website.

I see the advantages of Outland being that I can travel in and out of Canada, see my family and work in the UK. However, I am unable to work in Canada.

The advantages of Inland is that I can apply for the OWP which enables me to work in Canada, however I am unable to leave Canada throughout the duration of my OWP.

Seen as the times processing times are roughly the same, I believe the Inland application is a better choice because I am able to live with my future wife and earn a living at the same time.

Unless my logic is incorrect?

Nope, your logic is correct; it's the processing times shown that aren't always correct.

Most people via the London visa office get through the entire Outland process in under 12 months, since the times shown are the `worse case scenario'.
The language really should be changed to read "up to xx months".

Check the London threads to get an idea of how quickly people are getting their PR.

From what I have read on here, the reason the Outland for London is so high is also because they are apparently picking up overflow for some other VO's (Pakistan?). I believe European applications are processed well under that.

One thing to consider as well, with an Outland application, you always run the possibility that Mississauga may hold it, in which case you are done lightning fast (the previous one apparently got DM 2 weeks after SA?)

Sponsorship times via London can be found in the spreadsheet linked in my signature. Applications trhoguh London are being processed in about 10 months total (from the time you send it to MIssissauga to when you get a decision made). If your application stays within Canada and is processed by Ottawa then it's 7 months, and if it's processed by MIssissauga then it's 4 months. Luck of the draw which office you get. The big red box on the front of the spreadsheet explains the whole 29 month thing. As others have said, it's because they are picking up overflow from Pakistan, whose processing time is 3ish years.

There's a FAQ linked in my signature as well for outland applications, you will find it IMMENSELY helpful as you fill out the applications, and it will answer a lot of your questions.

I strongly, strongly suggest you apply outland as you'l have PR in under a year in all likelihood.
