Hello All, My wife is a UK citizen and will be coming to Canada for a visit as I am a Canadian.
Is there a way once my wife has entered Canada on a visitors visa, that she can apply within Canada for a Temporary Resident Visa?
What is the best way for her to become a resident of Canada once she has arrived?
Best Regards Jakes

A temporary resident visa doesn't allow your wife to live in Canada - it just allows her to visit as a tourist. In other words, entering Canada as a tourist on her passport gives her the same status as a Temporary Resident Visa.

If she wants to become a resident of Canada, you will have to sponsor her for permanent residency through the spousal sponsorship program.

It can be done while she is visiting Canada - however make sure you apply through the "outland" (outside of Canada) method rather than "inland". Much faster for those in the UK. If you have any further questions, ask them in the Family Sponsorship section of the forum.

As a UK citizen visiting Canada I don't think your wife would need a visa. Unless she is planning to work or study. You can verify that on the CIC website.

As for how she can become a citizen of Canada I guess as the member above mentioned, you would need to go through a sponsorship process.
