Indian Passport Renewal from BLS Toronto

For people who have recently renewed their passport through BLS.
How is police verification handled in India? My parents are PR and stay here in Canada with me. If I submit their passport renewal application here through BLS, they still ask for India address for Police Verification. But that house in India is locked with nobody staying there. So the question is how does police verification work in this case? Do they visit the house or is it only online check on their end?

the verification is physical, either they will visit at Indian address you mention on application or they will ask someone to visit the police station.

Sorry you are going through this.

I went through it back in 2022. At the time, the police did go to my parents address, and I had to arrange for an uncle to coordinate with local police. As per their direction I had to provide an affidavit that I and my parents reside abroad. It was quite difficult to manage, but got it done.
