Incomplete Citizenship Application Section 9 C Please advise

Hi There,

My application for Canadian Citizenship has been returned as incomplete because I have (stupidly) left both boxes from section 9 C empty.
- it asks if I lived outside of Canada during my eligibility period.
The requirement is to tick either YES or NO. YES leads you to fill out the CIT0177 form that is for Crown servants and their spouses and family.
I did live outside of Canada during that period but not as a Crown servant or a spouse/family member of a Crown servant.

I know now that I should have ticked YES and filled out the form with N/A all over it. Date it and sign it.

My question here is:

Do I
a) write an explanation letter stating why I did not tick these boxes, then tick the YES box in the ORIGINAL application form they have sent me back and fill out the CIT0177 form with N/A's all over it?
(in this case, do I also amend the ORIGINAL checklist? Ticking CIT0177 being attached? If I won't do that, will the application be send back again for incompleteness?)

or

b) fill out a new citizenship application form + the CIT0177 form full of N/A's?

Thank you for any answers and help,

Kate
