I was feeling so disheartened when I woke up this morning. Everyday I think about immigration...
For months there were no updates, nothing. Manila never sent us any info.

Then I requested my husband's passport back in case of an emergency so that he would be able to travel home if needed because Immigration had held his passport since may 2013, before the strike. We received the passport in the mail about 2 weeks ago.

Then I checked his online status today and for the first time, it says IN PROCESS.
It says they started processing his visa on November 21st, 2013, a year after we applied.

So, now I would like to know since I am so bubbly, how much time is there usually between IN PROCESS and being accepted? What are your experiences?

For us (also processed out of Manila VO), it was 53 days right up to having our passport arrive back at our door complete with visa.

Hello yumeryuu,

your mistake is requesting the visa office for the passport. Sometimes, they held passports for sometimes, even for about a year. This is because, it seems that they are 'BUSY' for nothing. Of course, you need to know that thousands of application are received daily, some are genuine and some others are fraud...you know. So, it is the officers' duty to identify which is what...they need to be careful here. What you might to do is to wait until they send it back to you. It is actually right that, based on your request, they had to send it back to you...in turn, it is obvious that the application has not been finalized, so that by default it is "In Process". What you need to do is now, apologize them for what you did and ask to resend the passport.

Good luck,

The OP is from Japan. CIC doesn't require the passport for those from visa-exempt countries. The OP should WAIT and see if CIC requests anything further.

Thanks truesmile. I already have the passport in my hand and I know that Japan is a passport exempt country so I don't have to worry to much about that. =) Now is just a waiting game, but I feel much better knowing now that after so long my husband is finally in process. =)

Yup! That was for the benefit of the immediately preceding post. (When it's an immediate reply, I generally never "quote" from it.)
