Greetings,

I am from India. My Express Entry profile is in pool for almost a year with no success. Also, it is been a year I have applied for SINP (Points 62) and PEI (Points 72) but haven't received any invitation to apply.
I have done my Bachelors in Information Technology and have 13 years for work experience as IT Support Engineer.
I am now planning for study permit, enroll for 1-year Diploma or 2-year Masters degree program in any University (not very expensive).

  • Which province will be most economical in terms of cost of living and study?
  • If I enroll for a 1-year Diploma course, will I be able to apply for work permit post course completion?
  • How do I go about looking for universities?
  • Will Visa officer consider my application by not taking into account PR application?
    Or
  • Is there any option for me to be able to move to Canada on a PR?

If you decide to come to Canada on a study permit, make sure you take a 2 year program so that you qualify for a 3 year PGWP. People who only take a 1 year course have a much harder time converting this to PR.

Your choice of diploma must make sense based on your previous education and work history and should lead to career advancement.
