IN-Canada TRV application to Ottawa Employment requirement.

Hello all

I am in Canada and recently got my Bridging open work permit. I need to apply for TRV from Ottawa.
Currently I am not employed as I was waiting for my BOWP, do we really have to be employed while applying for TRV ? What do we have to mention in employment section in IMM5257E? Is there other way to explain officer about situation?
