Importing car while in Canada on work visa

I have been in Canada on a work visa since October, and at this point I've confirmed that I have no plans to return to the US for any long period of time, so I have decided to go ahead and import my vehicle.
Do I need to go to the border to do this? or is there a process for when the vehicle is already in Canada?
Will there be additional fees because I waited so long?
