to whom it may concern,

When I was still a kid, I had a PR card and everything but was forced to leave Canada due to my fathers work without renewing it (it has been expired for 10 years now). However, I am 18 years old now and would like to renew it and get the Canadian citizenship. Would I be able to do so if I cross to Canada by land?
PS: I still have the landing paper and the expired PR

You can certainly try to cross the land border but whether that is the safest or best way to return to Canada is questionable. Doing it that way means you risk being reported for non-compliance with the Residency Obligations by a CBSA officer that doesn't have the time to consider the facts of the case. If you are successful in getting in unreported, you then have the issues of not being able to renew your PR card for another two years.

It *might* be better to apply for a PR Travel Document, where you can make your case for an H&C exemption from the Residency Obligations, providing you with a "clean slate" start in Canada. Take legal advice from a competent immigration lawyer.
