I am a Project Manager with a software development / software implementation company having 14 years of IT professional experience. I am also intending to take my family along with me. My questions are-

1)Can I apply for immigration under skilled workers category? If not, then which category should I apply?

2)what is the list of Occupation I should choose while applying as I am unable to find IT / software in the list of occupations?

3)Although I am working as Software / IT professional and wants to apply as IT professional, I have done my engineering in CIVIL, instead of computers or electronics? Do I still qualify?

Any Help much appreciated...

Hello Kanamen,

Thank you for your quick response. I have gone though the site but was unable to understand out of the 29 occupation categories, which one should I choose as IT / Software professional.

Regards,
Amit

From the CIC website

For your application to be eligible for processing, you must:
have a valid offer of arranged employment, OR
have one year of continuous full-time paid work experience in at least one of the occupations listed here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-instructions.asp#list OR
be an international student enrolled in a PhD program in Canada (or graduated from a Canadian PhD program within the past 12 months) and meet certain criteria.

The software Project Manager category (NOC 0213) was removed from the priority list in June 26, 2010. All other IT categories are also removed. So if your experience is only in IT you are out of luck, you need to find a job offer or other avenues to immigrate.

For more info look at this page: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who.asp
