Hi, I have looked through a lot of threads but can't find the necessary help. I have already downloaded some forms but I'm unsure on which direction to take.

I am a U.K. citizen who has lived in Taiwan for 10 years. I am married to a Canadian citizen. We are yet to send in our immigration package. Do I take the inside or outside road? We plan on being in Canada in September, but don't think our application will be processed by that time. Also, when I arrive I want to be able to work while my application is being processed. Do I just send a work permit application as well?

All help will be gratefully accepted.

Thanks

Probably no chance to be working when you arrive in September. There are only 2 options:
1. Apply immediately OUTLAND while living in Taiwan. There is no work permit associated with an outland app, so you will arrive as visitor in September and can not work until your PR app is finally approved.
2. Wait until you come in September, and once in Canada as a visitor only then apply INLAND. You can apply for OWP with inland app, but it will take approx 4 months to arrive. You can't work until you get the OWP in hand.

In either case you can explore finding an employer to go through LMIA process to get you a closed work permit (independent of a PR app), but due to cost. time and effort to employer this is often a very difficult process. LMIA process also takes several months even if you did find an employer that wanted to hire you badly enough to go through it.
