I believe I have the all the basic information about immigrating to Canada, so now I'd like to learn a bit more about my options.

Before you ask why Yukon (it's close to Alaska, so that's no.1, no2. I love cold and snow).

The question is, is it a bad idea to start there? If yes, then why? Also what jobs are most needed there?

Why Yukon? Well, only YOU know that. There is always something happening up there, have a look here

If you find something that looks like you, then good luck.

Hehe Yukon. If you love cold and snow I'm sure Yukon will give you plenty of them.

I would imagine Yukon has abundance of mining jobs.

One thing I heard of is the living cost in isolated communities in high arctics can be ridiculously. There is a NGO concerning this matter: http://www.feedingmyfamily.org/

A case of bottle water: (This is in Nunavut tho)

19 $ per hour for post office assistant job, this poor applicant will need to work a full shift to make up money for a case of water bottles !!

This is no joke, I read it on the TV news some years ago and I think a representatives from that NGO appeared in the parliament as well.

It is outrageous for people outside of these isolated communities. but consider everything from fuel, power generators, food, possibly fresh water has to fly into those places (which I think we all take it for granted in southern Canada) the cost of that is enormous.

Back when US is almost at parity, some relatives of mine would drive down there with three 20L fuel tank and fill it up there (along with 2 weeks worth ;D 30% difference between border at that time
