Hi Guys,

I have a feeling I am overthinking this question:

Question 10 " Were you yourself sponsored to come to Canada?" (what type of sponsorship was it: parents, dependent child)

My parents and I immigrated to Canada as a family, i.e. no one sponsored us. I am confused whether I should say "Yes", "I immigrated with my family as a dependent child". I am thinking that since I was a dependent child when we were immigrating, I was theoretically sponsored by my parents?

Let me know your thoughts.

The answer is NO, your were a dependent on your parents application.

PMM, I am confused why is it "NO"? The person was sponsored by their parents as a dependent child. Is it because the person was included in the parents application and not sponsored at a later stage?

He was not "sponsored" by his parents. He was a dependent. If the parents had been sponsored by a son/daughter in Canada, then yes he would have been a sponsored dependent. He was included in the parents application, they didn't "land" and then sponsor him.

Thanks PMM. Looks like I was overthinking this afterall. Makes sense. Thanks for your input!

Thanks for the clarification.
