Hi,

I'm sponsoring my husband. He's the main provider of our household and I'm a stay-at-home mom to our daughter.

On IMM 5481:

2) Your current situation.
A) Unemployed
Give details of your current situation and indicate how you support yourself.

(Here I explained that I am currently unemployed and that my husband is our provider.)

Now I am confused about what to write for the following point:

3) Your net personal income for the 12-month period preceding the date of your application.

What do I write here? My husband's income? my savings? my income when I was employed (which was before 12-month period preceding date of application)??

Thanks

Hi

Just be honest and put 0 for your income; anything else would be lying. You've already explained that you are a stay-at-home parent and your husband is the provider, so it's not a big deal. CIC looks beyond just the sponsor income and considers the family income as a whole in these situations. Along with your explanation, include proof of savings and his income. It's not an uncommon situation and will not get you refused.
