If i'm applying for sponsoring my spouse, do i need 'Extend Your Stay in Canada application?'

i'm a canadian citizen applying for my wife's perminent residence.

we're both living in canada, and my wife is here by temp visa.

so she's only allowed to stay 6 month, but the PR takes a year.

so does my wife need to apply for Extend your stay in canada application?
