If I have a study permit, could my wife also apply study permit? or she would only apply SOWP?

Background: Me, my wife, and 2 yrs old boy

I prepare to apply study permit, normally my wife can come with me with SOWP, and my son is too young so he can come with me as well.

But here is the question. can my wife also apply study permit as well? and my son also come to Canada with us.

Is there any successful case before? please kindly advise.

or

can my wife come to CA with SOWP first, and apply a study permit later on?
