Hi, I am 47 year old, single Irish woman and I'm looking to live and work in Canada but it would seem that I can only apply if I have a job offer. I'm in the processing of sending out Resumé requesting employers to consider me, hopefully interview me by Skype and then apply through LMO process.

Does anyone know what are waiting times for LMO at the moment. Fed Skilled Worker applications are open on May 4th, if I don't have LMO by then, does it mean I have missed the deadline for this year or how long will it stay open after May 4th?

LMO wait times are a few months.

As of May 4th application without job offers are being accepted for the Federal Skilled Worker stream. If you have sufficient points (67) without a job offer and meet the other requirements then you qualify to apply. There will be a limited number of spots available (we won't yet know how many - but they will likely fill up very quickly). If you want to apply then you should be ready to submit your application May 4th. I assume you know that you'll have to take an English test in advance and include the results in your application.

Hi Scylla, many thanks for your reply. Tonight, I have sent out my Resumé to about 20 employers in my area of work. I am currently getting the paper work together. I am applying to do Language Test on March 23rd. I have applied for Police Certificate last week, so I hope that won't take too long.

I did the self assessment test online and scored 71 without a job offer but would I be wasting everyone's time by submitting an application anyway without a job offer?

Regards,

If you apply now without a permenent job offer, you would be wasting your time. However, you can apply without one on or after May 4th, 2013.
