Can any one tell me when to give an IELTS exam,

1. before applying for the Federal route
2. after applying for the Federal route

I am from India & am having 6 years of experience in the field of Pharmaceutical Research.

It will be great help, if anyone will sort out my question, as I am planning to go through Federal route from January 2013.

You must give the exam before applying. IELTS is mandatory for the federal route. If you submit an application with no IELTS results, it's an automatic refusal.
